The National Universities Commission (NUC) has been at the forefront of shaping higher education in Nigeria. That’s why UNIFEMGA is excited to announce that Professor Abubakar Rasheed, the current Executive Secretary of the NUC, will be speaking on “The Future of Higher Education in Nigeria” at the upcoming UNIFEMGA National Reunion.

As an accomplished academic and administrator, Professor Rasheed brings a wealth of experience to the discussion. He is a Professor of English and the 9th Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano. He has also held leadership positions at several universities and served as the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) before joining the NUC.

The theme of this year’s reunion is “The Future of Higher Education in Nigeria: Emerging Trends, Challenges and Opportunities.” It’s a timely and important topic, given the challenges that universities in Nigeria face today. With rising demands for access to higher education, limited resources, and rapidly evolving technologies, it’s essential to have informed discussions about how to move forward.
