The Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA) receives with sorrow and heartfelt grief the news of the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, CFR, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.

The revered monarch, led for over 64 years with wisdom, dignity, and justice. He would be remembered for his contribution to the peace and development within his kingdom, the state, and Nation in general.

Oba Adetona’s role was Amirul Muluk (spiritual head of all Muslim traditional rulers in Yorubaland) and displayed exceptional leadership, commitment to the cause of Islam, peaceful coexistence with people of other faith, and service to humanity. His reign symbolized royal dignity balanced with deep religious values and service to his people.

UNIFEMGA extends its condolences to the Royal Family, the Ijebu Traditional Council, the League of Imams and Alfas in Ogun State, the Grand Chief Imam of Ijebuland, and the entire Muslim and traditional communities across Nigeria. We also commiserate with His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State, and the Federal Government of Nigeria on the loss of a national icon.

We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, and grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah comfort his family and the people of Ijebuland, and give them the strength to bear this great loss.
